Mardi Gras

What I love most about where we live is that while in some ways it is very "small town", there are so many people from so many different walks of life. I love that Aaron is able to learn about many different cultures and traditions. We have a neighbor who grew up in New Orleans. Today is "Fat Tuesday" and she invited us to celebrate Mardi Gras with her family and friends. The kids were in a "parade" around the neighborhood. They rode in the back of a truck and threw out beads and "coins". Then, we all shared the "King Cake" which was decorated with purple, green and gold sprinkles. Inside the cake was a little plastic baby (representing baby Jesus). The tradition is that whoever finds the baby has to bring the next "King Cake". This was my first Mardi Gras celebration, also. What a great time we had!
