Ahhh...the terrible twos saga continues. Tonight I was trying to put a diaper and jammies on Aaron. He did not want the "yellow diaper" that I was putting on him, so he hit me! I told him "Mommy has a sad face because my baby hit me". He replied, "I want you to have a happy face." I told him "but, Mommy has a sad face because you hit me." So, he screamed "I want you to have a happy face!" and hit me again! The irony of it was just too much for me!

"Wun Away"
I have to admit, today was not my favorite day as a mom! The "terrible twos" were out full force, and it seems like no matter what I asked Aaron to do, he did the opposite. One of his favorite things was to say "wun away" (run away) and then run the opposite direction than I wanted him to. I think he spent more time in "time out" than he did playing! He just would not cooperate with me or my agenda for the day.
So, tonight, long after he had gone to sleep, I crept into his room to look at my sleeping "angel" and be reminded of how much I love him. As I gazed lovingly at his sleeping toddler form, he cracked his eyes barely open and whispered "wun away". I had to laugh! It was the perfect ending to his "perfectly defiant" day!

Splashing in Puddles!
The other day we had some pretty rockin' thunderstorms come through our area. Afterward, Aaron and I went out walking around the neighborhood. He was wearing his red, "firefighter" rainboots. Soon, we found a huge puddle of water. Well, of course Aaron could not let those boots go to waste! He jumped right in and was splashing and giggling. I had almost as much fun watching him as he had splashing in the puddle!

Asking Congress the Hard Questions!

The fire station where James is assistant chief recently received a grant. James was asked to "accept" the check from our local congressman and take pictures for the newspaper. Unknown to us, Aaron had a question for our congressman. As we walked up and James introduced us, Aaron looked him straight in the eye and asked "Where is the kangaroo?"

God Made "Fruit Snacks"!
Tonight I was reading to Aaron out of his "Bible Storybook for Toddlers". The part I was reading said, "God made the earth...He made flowers and fruits and vegetables. God made people, too. Best of all, God made..." That is when Aaron piped up and said "Fruit Snacks!"
D-O-P-E spells Mommy!
We have been working with Aaron on learning his letters. He likes to "spell" things out. This weekend we were at my mother's house for Easter. I was showing off how "smart" my kid is, and I asked him to spell "stop". He replied "S-T-O-P spells 'top'!" Then, I asked him to spell "Aaron". He replied "A-R-O-N spells 'Aaron'!" Next, I asked him to spell "Mommy". He proudly said "D-O-P-E spells 'Mommy'!" Enough said!
A Happy Easter...
Easter is a very special time in our lives. While we enjoy the fun of the Easter Bunny, we have been trying to emphasize to Aaron the true importance of Easter. So, while it is difficult for him to understand, he will tell you "Jesus was on the Cross. He rose again!"
On the Saturday before Easter, we went and had Aaron's picture made with the Easter Bunny. Aaron opened his Easter Basket from his Maw Maw and Paw Paw.
James had to work on Easter Sunday. Aaron and I went to the fire station to help with the annual pancake breakfast they have it after the "Sunrise Worship Service". Then, we went to visit James at work for a little while. After that, we went to my mom's house for Easter dinner. It was a very nice Easter!

"Mommy! I Love Her!"
Aaron is getting into the age where he can express emotions (both positive and negative!) with words. So, while most of the time I encounter the rage of the terrible twos, sometimes he just makes my heart sing!
For instance, the other day, for no apparent reason, he ran up and threw his arms around my legs in a "bear hug". He looked up at me with that adorable grin and exclaimed "Mommy! I love her!" Then he ran away.
Now, when he is screaming his head off in a fit of anger, I just relive that moment over and over again in my mind!

Hockey Goal!

Way back at Christmas, Aaron received an inflatable hockey/soccer goal from his "Uncle" Kevin Lynch. Being the slack parents that we are, we did not get the goal set up until a couple of days ago!
Aaron loves his goal! He keeps grabbing the big inflatable hockey stick and saying "I want to hockey! I want to hockey!" We have all had a good time "hockeying".

Picnic!
My "Right Hand Man"
If you are like me, you never really realize how much you use your right arm until you break it. Aaron is back home, and I am thrilled! But, he is already managing to move my arm in new and unusual ways! I've been having to change his diapers on the floor (Boy! I wish he was potty trained!) I think he realizes that I cannot physically control him anymore and he is taking full advantage of the situation. What he doesn't realize is that while my right arm may be broken, my legs aren't (and fast as he is, I'm still faster!) and my left arm is VERY strong! One way or the other, I will win the battles!
Easter Egg Hunt

On Saturday we went to an "Easter Egg Hunt" at our church. The kids dyed Easter eggs inside and then went outside to hunt some eggs. Aaron actually picked some eggs up and put them in his basket this year! (Last year he picked up one for each hand and walked around the playground with them). Mommy and Daddy are enjoying the candy that was in the eggs!
