A Three-Year-Old's Politics

So, election fever has hit our town. I knew it was consuming us, but I did not know how much until the other day. Aaron and I were riding in the car and suddenly he asked me "Mommy? Who are you going to vote for?" I told him and he said "Why?" So, I told him why I had chosen that person. Then, I asked him, "If you could vote, who would you vote for?" To which he promptly replied, "George Washington!" I was very tickled by his answer, but I felt it only fair to tell him the truth. So, I said "Honey, that's a great choice, but George Washington is dead." He was quiet for a moment and then asked in a very distressed voice "Who killed him?" It was as I was explaining that George Washington had been dead for 200 years that I thought..."I cannot believe I am having this conversation, with my 3-year-old!"

I'm glad he has heard of George Washington. It is really amazing what a 3 year old absorbs from what he hears. We need to remember that!
