I sat there on the floor of the post office for 25 minutes waiting for the fit to subside. I was just going to run in and mail a package. I told Aaron that he could play in the lobby, as long as he could see me. As soon as I turned to sign the credit card slip, I heard “pat, pat, pat, pat, pat…” It was the sound of size 8 toddler boots running as fast as they could go in the opposite direction from me. When I caught up with him, I asked him “What happens when you run away from Mommy?” He replied “I have to go to time out” “That’s right!” I said and carried him back up to the front where I sat him on the floor. Instead of doing his “time out” like a man, he proceeded to kick the wall (is it some kind of federal offense to kick the post office wall?). He also screamed and cried and tried to crawl away. He stood up and tried to run away. I, (very patiently, I might add!) kept setting him back down on the spot.
The entire time this was going on, people are coming and going in the post office. We live in a small town, so it was inevitable that someone we knew would come in. There were the occasional comments, but my favorite was the young man who said “You’re doing a good job, Mama. Hang in there!”
Finally, the fit subsided, Aaron did his “time out” and we went home. Just another Saturday morning in the Garris family!

So this is what I have to look forward to! Maybe I should re-think this baby thing, LOL.... Just Kidding! Keep telling yourself this is just a phase he is going through and it will be over in the next year or so, okay maybe not!
