So, in the first blog about traveling with an infant, we had barely made it on the plane. The plane ride can be tricky and whether your experience is good or bad depends on a lot of factors.
The first and most important factor is your baby's personality. If your baby is fairly easy-going, thank your lucky stars and proceed with your traveling. They will probably react the same to flying as they do to anything else. If your baby is fussy by nature, reconsider flying until they are older. Aaron was an extremely easy-going baby. So, the flight was pretty smooth for him.
The second factor (and one you have no control over whatsoever!) is the attitude of your flight attendants. On our flight, we had AWESOME flight attendants. They made the biggest fuss over Aaron and kept coming by to see if we (we meaning Aaron, really) needed anything.
Another factor is the people around you. Again, this is a factor that you have absolutely no control over! But, they can make or break the flight. Keep in mind that not all people enjoy babies. I LOVE babies and I HATE being on a flight with a crying baby! I find it helpful to apologize at the slightest sound of a whimper. Also, it helps to adopt a "I'm sorry to be flying with an infant, but I absolutely had to get to __________" look on your face. If the people around you are sympathetic to your plight, it will go much easier for you!
So, these are just some of my thoughts on traveling (or really just flying) with an infant. May you fly the "friendly" skies!
