Aaron's Tent

Tonight at dinner Aaron announced he wanted to eat under his "tent". So, he did!

I Was Conned!

The other night I heard Aaron sobbing in his bed. I don't usually get him out after he's gone to bed, but I thought it might be nice to cuddle and rock with him a little bit. Especially since he doesn't let me do that very often anymore.

Well, I went into his room picked him up and carried him to his rocking chair. He carried 2 flamingo "Beanie Babies" with him to the chair. I settled in with him in my lap and got ready for some serious "mommy and Aaron cuddle time". I leaned in to give him a kiss and he took one of the flamingos, said "POINK!" and jabbed me in the eye with its beak! Then, he just started giggling! I was sitting there with my eye watering, thinking "I was completely conned!" So much for cuddle time!

Lion Attack!

Aaron is learning how to pretend. Last night he said, "Mommy! I'm a lion!" and started chasing me around the house while he "roared" and "clawed" at me. We played like this for a little while, laughing and having a good time. Then, I bent over to pick up one of his toys, and he said "I'm a lion! I'm going to bite you!" and sure enough, HE DID! He bit me right on the bottom! Let me tell you, those lion teeth hurt! I guess he needs to work on the pretending part a little more!

More Adventures in Potty Training!

Pride comes before a fall! Last week I wrote about our pride in how well Aaron was doing in the potty training department. Well, the very next day, Aaron and I were at my friends' house. (The friends with the 5 daughters). We were playing at game on the computer and he was sitting in my lap. The next thing I knew, I felt something warm on my leg! The child had peed on me!

Well, the girls were having a rough morning and their mom was trying to figure out what to do with them. I told her "At least no one peed on you today!"

Now, I consider the day successful if I can say "At least no one peed on me today!" Motherhood is such a joy!

Happy Birthday, Blog!

Earlier this month my blog had it's 1st birthday! It's difficult for me to imagine that I've been "blogging" for a year now!

My brother recently told me "Your blog is now the 7,100,000 most visited website in the world, up from 9,000,000". Thanks to all you faithful Aaron fans!

Adventures in Potty Training!

Last Wednesday, Aaron told me he was not going to wear a pull-up. He wanted to wear underwear! So, with much nervousness, I let him wear underwear. He did a great job! We went to my friend's house, the church and Wal-Mart and he did not have any accidents! Of course, by the time we returned home I think he had reached dangerous levels of dehydration from me making him go to the bathroom every few minutes and not letting him have anything to drink! But, he didn't wet his pants! :)

Since then, Aaron has progressed rapidly with the potty training. Hurray! He took a nap in underwear yesterday and was still dry when I got him out of the crib. He has also been insisting that he stand up to pee "like Daddy does".

We are very very proud of him! I am very excited about the day when I no longer have to buy pull-ups!

Funny Pictures

I just thought these pictures were funny!

A Big Day!

The Bug and I had a very interesting day today. We went to the pool with the infamous 5 sisters! While we were there we ordered some pizza. Let me tell you, those girls can eat! The two youngest finished a whole pizza by themselves! I couldn't believe it! Next time I will have to order more.

At the beginning of the summer, Aaron would not even step foot in the "kiddie pool". He has been getting braver and braver as the summer progresses. Today, he let one of the girls carry him in a float all the way out into the big pool! We were all very excited!

Tonight we had a major breakthrough. Aaron told me he had to go potty, ran into his bathroom and went "poopie" on the potty for the first time! Big excitement in our house! You see, he has been peeing on the potty for some time now, but it is usually when we take him in there. He rarely tells us when he has to go.

You know you are a mother when the "big excitement" you write about on your blog is about the pool and the potty! Well, it was a big day for us!

I Lost Him On My Nextel!

I was driving down the road the other day with my constant companion in the backseat. I heard him pretending to talk on his phone. I laughed out loud when I heard him say "Daddy? Daddy? I lost him on my Nextel!" I guess he's heard that a time or two!

Mommy, You're Beautiful!

After dinner this evening, I picked up Aaron out of his booster seat. He leaned in, hugged me tight and said "Mommy, you're beautiful!" My heart just melted!

Now, I don't know what has gotten into this kid lately, but I LOVE IT!

Yay! Mommy!

Aaron was supposed to be asleep an hour ago. But, as I just walked by his room I heard him cheer "Yay! Mommy!" I love that kid!

Bath Time Fun!

Aaron loves his bathtub!

A Quiet, Peaceful Life

All I want is a quiet, peaceful life. Seriously! Today, I was watching the 5 sisters (whose parents are in Mexico) plus Aaron, and we decided we wanted soup for lunch. One of the girls had partially opened one of the cans, and I got the brilliant idea to pry it open with a spoon. Well, the spoon slipped and my hand came down on the can, slicing my thumb. I turned on the water and threw my hand under the sink.

When the bleeding stopped, I proceeded to call every paramedic I knew and not one was home! So, I called the guys up at James' volunteer station to come and see if I needed stitches. Their verdict was "probably". So, after feeding them, sending them upstairs to take naps and finding someone to watch all 6 kids, I headed off to the doctor. After telling me I needed "7,000 stitches all over my body" the doctor got serious and said I had a choice between a couple of stitches and "steri strips". Guess which one I chose?

Don't Whine!

One thing I can't stand for kids to do is WHINE! It drives me crazy! Needless to say, Aaron hears "Don't whine! Talk to me like a big boy" a lot.

The other day I had to say good-bye to a friend who was moving out West. After she left, I broke down and started crying. Aaron looked at me and said "Mommy, don't whine!"
