Okay. I knew this day would come...I just wasn't expecting it today! So, what was this monumentous occasion? Aaron threw up for the very first time today!
I know what you are thinking "Eww! Gross!" But, like just about everything the child does, he couldn't do it like a normal kid. It was just a regular day. Aaron wasn't acting sick or anything. I was standing in the kitchen and he walked up beside me, made a little burping sound, then just threw up on the floor. Then, he calmly looked at me and said very matter of factly, "Mommy, I spit". It was all I could do not to laugh as I tried to ask him if he was alright. I asked if his tummy hurt and he said "No, Mommy. It is hot." and left the room to go play!
As I cleaned up the mess, I was counting my blessings that this was the first time in 2 & 1/2 years that I had to clean up such a mess! I guess it was bound to happen someday!

A Big Scare!
Aaron and I have been visiting the local pool a lot this summer. While he still won't go in the big pool, Aaron has finally gotten use to playing in the "kiddie" pool which is 1 foot deep at it's deepest.
The other day, I was watching him walk around the edge of the pool. The next thing I knew, he was face down in the water! I jumped up, went flying across the pool and reached down to pick him up! By that point, he had already gotten his head up and was trying to sit up in the pool. I picked him up and loved on him, trying to be calm and not frighten him even more. He had some water in his ears, but other than that seemed to be fine. In fact, he went right back to playing!
I, on the other hand, was not alright. I think might have had a minor heart attack! I kept seeing that image of him over and over in my head. This "mom thing" is tough business!

Tumbling "Medal Mania" Ceremony!

Aaron recently had his "Medal Mania Awards Ceremony" at his tumbling gym. Each class did an exhibition, and each child received a medal to celebrate a year of hard work and dedication. Of course, Aaron's class was the cutest! They showed off their skills on the balance beam, "rolling mats", trampoline and bars. Aaron had a huge fan club there to cheer him on. His Nana, Paw Paw Carl, Aunt Jackie, Uncle Perry, Aunt Rachel, Maw Maw and Paw Paw (and Mommy and Daddy, of course!) were all there to cheer him on!

Gracias!
The other day we were at a local mexican restaurant and we were trying to get Aaron to say "gracias" to the waiter when he brought our food. We repeatedly told him "say 'gracias'", but he would not do it. Eventually, the waiter had to go to on about his business. A few minutes after he left our table, Aaron looked around and asked, "Where did "Gracias" go?"
I had to laugh, but then explained that "gracias" was not his name! Now, whenever someone says "gracias", Aaron says "that is not his name!"

Do We Look Lost?
On our vacation we went to visit the "Lost Colony". While in the Visitors' Center, we decided to watch the 17 minute video describing what happened to the settlers. Well, we almost made it through the video. Aaron started getting really restless and loud, so we had to leave. Since no one really knows what happened to the settlers, I guess it is okay that we missed the ending!

A Visit to the Outer Banks

Last week our family and some friends took a vacation to Duck, which is on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Neither James nor I had ever been to the Outer Banks, so we were very excited! We arrived Sunday evening and headed straight out to the beach. Aaron was enjoying splashing in the tide pools (or "mud puddles" as he called them) until a wave came along and knocked him down! After that, we had to hear "I 'cared' of the mud puddle!" all week long! Aaron's "Aunt" Rachel finally got him to splash in the water later in the week.
On Monday morning we went out looking for food and exploring the area. We bought groceries for the week and then headed back to the house. Aaron took a long nap, then we hit the beach in the late afternoon. There was hardly anyone on the beach, so Aaron had a great time running up and down the beach. One time, he saw a wave coming and took off running, screaming "aaahhh!!!", with his hands in the air! I almost could not chase him, because I was laughing so hard!
It was a great week! We spent most mornings doing "tourist" stuff. The afternoon were lazy times of reading and naps. Late afternoons and evenings were spent out on the beach. We chased crabs, collected seashells, dug in the sand, and even splashed a little in the ocean! Thanks to Aunt Rachel for sharing her house with us!

I Want the Brown Doughnut
A couple of nights ago I heard Aaron crying in his bed. He was sobbing and calling "Mommy! Mooommmyyy! I went rushing into his room to find out what he was so upset about. He looked at me and calmly said "I want the brown doughnut".
